What is Solar Water Heating
Solar thermal water heating can be used for water heating, space heating and pool heaters.
In southern Ontario, the free solar energy you get from the sun will deliver summertime savings of 85% and winter savings of 35% for a year-round savings of up to 60% on your utility hot water heating bill.

  • Water heating comprises approximately 25% of the total household energy;
  • In North America the daily average hot water use is 70 litres/day/person
  • Average annual energy used for water heating is 3600 kWh;
  • The market for water heating is shared between natural gas, electric and fuels
  • Solar water heating can provide approximately 50% of the annual water heating energy needs, and up to 100% of the needs for a 3-season cottage.

Solar thermal engergy

Solar energy, in the form of heat, is collected by solar collectors and is transferred through the Energy Pack using a heat exchanger to your potable hot water. The appliance works in all seasons, is freeze protected and is designed to reduce, not replace, your existing natural gas, electric, oil or propane hot water and home heating service. The appliance does not affect the quantity of hot water produced or the speed at which cold water is heated, making it an ideal environmental solution.
